Intellectual Property and Complex Litigation
Our litigation group, led by Bill McLean, is experienced in the trial of complex commercial and intellectual property litigation.
Thoits Law is able to provide businesses and individuals, as well as other collaborating law firms, with veteran trial lawyers when a case is headed toward trial. Our attorneys have tried dozens of cases to verdict in both state and federal courts, and we have applied this experience in cases involving theft of trade secrets, trademark infringement, copyright infringement, patent infringement, breach of license agreements, as well as many other disputes arising out of employment, commercial, insurance and real estate relationships. We are also experienced with the use of electronic technology during discovery and in the management and presentation of evidence at trial. This depth of experience assures our clients that they will be in experienced hands at the Courthouse and that they will be carefully advised by seasoned lawyers at every stage of the litigation.
We have served as lead or co-counsel in complex litigation involving a variety of intellectual property rights cases, including cases involving biotechnology IP and high capacity storage IP, as well as business disputes outside the area of intellectual property, including class actions.
Our business and commercial litigation practice focuses on the following areas:
- Breach of business related contracts and Uniform Commercial Code disputes
- Business-related torts and brand or unfair business practices
- Breach of fiduciary obligations and corporate and partnership governance disputes
- Partnership and corporate disputes and dissolutions
